garage conversion, architect on demand, advice without strings

We all need our own territory to manage emotions. Even if it’s just a favorite chair to come back to. I have a chance to claim an underused garage and convert it into my own studio and home office. Hence, garage conversion design ideas.Actually, it’s not even a garage, just a storage dump. In other words, I can breathe new life into an unclaimed space. I can celebrate independence and self-sufficiency through design. And so can you. Just like me, you can create a quiet place with plenty of even, shadow-free light for sculpture or sewing. For example, just like me, you can set up a big project table and a wall of bookshelves.

Design ideas file tip #8 / garage conversion:

AUGMENT & ALIGN

Problem: Underused.

converted garage

Solution: Double as a studio — multi-task, as usual.
Allow new glass doors to fold back for occasional parking.
Design lightweight flexible shelving to house books, reference materials.

By the way, don’t forget to keep in mind those intermittent client presentations. Visitors to your workplace do not need to traipse through the main house to get to the meeting.
Also, you might want to design a conference/work table on wheels for maneuverability.

Added Benefit: Merging seamlessly with the garden; paradise found.

I want my place remodeled! It’s so cramped in here. We do have a vacant garage. It would be great to convert it into something that works as well as yours. But I don’t even know where to begin. And cost is another variable that I would like to get a handle on. I would appreciate your input.

Hello Alla! I was wondering if it would be possible for us to use your online architectural services. We are building a house and do need a full-time professional who can handle the project onsite, not virtually. However, it would be so helpful to have someone to turn to for a second non-bias opinion every once in a while. You seem very knowledgeable. I am impressed with your work. I like your vision and the way you approach problems. I would be very happy if you would agree to be “on our side’ when we need your expertise.
